Decks

Beware of the damage high pressure can do to your deck. With high pressure, you must rely on the pressure or bleach to change the look of the deck. The high pressure only strips away the top layers of wood and pushes the mold and mildew deeper into the crevasses. Our low pressure system relies strictly on the biodegradable, safe formula to lift the mold and mildew up and away from the wood. Never damaging the wood. Have you ever seen chunks of wood taken out of your deck where yourself or others have tried using high pressure? Well, with our system you will NEVER have this happen to your deck.

Avoid high pressure - "Most types of wood used for buildings are soft, fibrous and porous, and are particularly susceptible to damage by abrasive cleaning. Because the summer wood between the lines of the grain is softer than the grain itself, it will be worn away by abrasive blasting or power tools, leaving an uneven surface with the grain raised and often frayed or "fuzzy." Once this has occurred, it is almost impossible to achieve a smooth surface again except by extensive hand sanding, which is expensive...

To seal the deck we recommend applying a water based sealer. This type of sealer penetrates deeper into the wood grain. ACS applys 3 coats of the sealer. Tests have shown that the compounds in oil based sealers actually ATTRACT mold and mildew. This is not so with a water based sealer. If you prefer to use an oil based sealer, we offer two high quality deck sealers - Cabot and Sickens.
